LifeTime electrostatic air dust retardant filters 97% of the dust out of your homes air
Scientists and researchers label house dust as a long-term indoor-pollution archive of contaminants accumulating in the dust of our homes over time. It has now been determined that indoor pollution levels pose a substantial health risk to the population, where Americans spend 90 percent of their time indoors. Pollution levels indoors being much higher than the outdoors where the actions of Mother Nature help neutralize the harmful substances.
Dust retardants systems equal healthier indoor air quality
Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have determined house dust as a source of polybrominated diphenyl ethers or PBDEs. PBDEs are widely used in common consumer products ranging from carpeting and cushions to televisions, computers and coffee makers. The toxicological data on PBDEs is limited, but the compounds have been implicated in developmental, reproductive, neurotoxicity and thyroid effects in rats, mice and fish.
Concerns have grown in recent years with evidence that PBDE concentrations are increasing rapidly in human tissues and body fluids by breathing dust laden indoor air. Our children are particularly susceptible by not only breathing but also spending much of their time on floors and carpets where dust accumulates, and frequently putting their hands and other dusty objects in their mouths.
